Malin Thurén grew up in Småland in the south of Sweden. Music and writing has been an important part of her life since very early age. After studies in Sweden for Professor Harald Thedéen she went on to study Bachelor of Music with Honours in England. 2005 She graduated with distinction and won first prize in Herbert Lumby Violin Competition. After her gradutation followed a couple of years of constant search for new ways of expression. 2007 she got a full-time scholarship for MMFestival for young artists in Vermont, US and that same year she took part in the American hip-hop artist Kanye West's worldtour, playing her violin with 20.000 people in the audience.
Malin has taken part in many interesting cross art collaborations where classical strings meet alternative music and pop music. She has also visited Germany to study early music interpretation for one of the Pioneers in this genre: John Holloway.
2010-2011 Malin studied early music and jazz improvisation at Royal College of Music, Stockholm.
